THU We head off this morning, venturing north to our overnight stop in Dumfries.
FRI We continue our journey today, past Glasgow and Loch Lomond to the highland town of Fort William. We then travel towards the Kyle of Lochalsh and across the Skye Bridge, the gateway to the majestic Isle of Skye. On arrival, we settle in to the lovely Dunollie Hotel with its pleasant waterfront setting and views across Broadford Bay, our base for the next two nights.
SAT Today we have a full day excursion around Skye, with time in the island’s main town of Portree. We also experience a unique Glass Bottom Boat trip on the Kyle of Lochalsh, where you can peer out through the glass at the magical wonderland under the sea, offering the opportunity to explore the underwater kelp forests. Above the water, the views are fantastic with the Cullin hills of the Isle of Skye to one side and the Skye Bridge and Loch Alsh on the other – it’s also likely that you will spot a plethora of local wildlife such as seals and otters.
SUN We journey south this morning, passing through some stunning scenery before taking the short crossing to Rhubodach and the lovely Isle of Bute. We make our way to the Glenburn Hotel in Rothesay where you can enjoy the fantastic views over the Firth of Clyde to the Kyles of Bute during our stay.
MON Just 15 miles long and less than five miles wide, savour a scenic and leisurely tour of the Isle of Bute today with photo stops and views over the Sound of Bute to Arran. We also visit the not-to-be-missed Mount Stuart, Britain’s most spectacular Victorian Gothic Mansion with its stunning and mysterious interiors and 300 acres of gloriously maintained gardens and grounds.
TUE After breakfast this morning, we take the morning crossing to Wemyss Bay on the mainland and begin our homeward journey, stopping overnight in Haydock en route.
WED We continue our journey home today, arriving back in the early evening.
