MON  We set off this morning for North Devon, calling en route at the historic coastal town of Minehead, where you have time at leisure to stroll along the promenade, or perhaps wander through Blenheim Gardens, an attractive and sheltered haven in the centre of the town. We continue our journey to Barnstaple and the beautiful Georgian building which houses the historic Royal and Fortescue Hotel. Ancient meets modern at this relaxed and comfortable town centre hotel which will be our base for the next four nights.

TUE  After breakfast this morning, we travel along the dramatic coastal scenery of steep cliffs and wooded valleys to the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth with time to explore the unique shops and cafes. We also take a ride on the historic funicular cliff lift which connects the two villages – the world’s highest and steepest completely water powered railway. This afternoon, we head to the pretty resort of Ilfracombe, with its pretty natural harbour, pastel houses and 14th century chapel atop Lantern Hill. Maybe explore the Victorian hand carved beach tunnels and tidal bathing pool whilst enjoying an ice cream!

WED  We head inland today to the lovely RHS Garden Rosemoor, a beautiful garden destination set in the Torridge Valley between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. This 65-acre paradise offers a unique blend of horticultural excellence and natural beauty for gardeners and nature lovers alike. Explore the colourful gardens at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to admire the horticultural displays and visit the charming garden centre and café.

THU  This morning we make our way to Hartland Abbey & Gardens, one of the most important ancestral homes in North Devon. During your guided tour, discover the timeless charm of this historic estate, where fascinating history, elegant interiors, and family treasures have been lovingly preserved for generations. This afternoon we have free time in Barnstaple – maybe visit the historic Pannier Market which is located very close to our hotel. 

FRI  We depart from our hotel after breakfast, and make our way to the Quince Honey Farm. Here you can wander around the Nectar Gardens, see and learn about bees up close, visit the Honey Factory and take a look behind the scenes at the honey production areas before we enjoy a delicious cream tea and continue our journey home.
