MON We spend today at leisure in St Anton where there is plenty to see and do. Take advantage of the included St Anton Summer Card, which includes entrance to the St Anton Museum and the complimentary use of local bus services.
TUE This morning, we make our way to Bregenz, framed by impressive mountain chains and nestled beside Lake Constance. There is time to enjoy and explore the medieval centre of this delightful city and see the massive Baroque onion spire of St Martin’s Tower before we make the short journey around the shores of Lake Constance to the town of Lindau. Situated on an island and brimming with medieval and half-timbered buildings, this charming German town has plenty to admire.
WED Today we enjoy a spectacular drive over one of the most beautiful Alpine passes: the Silvretta Pass, which twists and turns around 30 hairpin bends through a wonderland of Tyrolean scenery, making our journey a genuine highlight of our tour. Along the way, we are treated to views over the towering Piz Buin peak, the highest mountain in Vorarlberg.
THU We spend this morning at leisure in the Swiss city of Chur, which boasts a well preserved old town. We have time to stroll the picturesque, traffic-free alleyways, see landmarks like the Bishop’s Court – home to the Episcopal Palace Museum and Cathedral of St Mary – and discover the shops and cafés. Next, we join the Chur-Arosa railway line, also called the Arosa Bahn. This lovely mountain railway takes us on a return journey climbing 1,000 metres in just 26 kilometres through unspoilt countryside, and negotiating tight curves, steep inclines and the famous Langwieser Viaduct across the River Plessur.
FRI We set off back to our overnight hotel today, arriving in time for our evening meal.
SAT We head home today via the ferry crossing to Dover, arriving back late evening.
