DAY 1 We head off this morning to join our ferry service as foot passengers from Poole to Guernsey. On arrival in St Peter Port, you will be met by a local coach or taxi and taken to your seafront hotel on the Vale Peninsula, with the remainder of the day free to spend as you please before this evening’s buffet dinner.
DAY 2 Today we have a full day guided tour of the island with a local coach operator to explore the beautiful scenery, beaches and look-out points. Visit the Little Chapel, beautifully decorated with seashells, pebbles and broken china. You will also see Sausmarez Park where you may spot the exotic camellias and magnolias planted by a Guernsey diplomat who served as the British Ambassador to Japan.
DAY 3 This morning we set off for a full day excursion to the sleepy Isle of Sark, 50 minutes by boat from Guernsey. Sark is stunningly beautiful, bursting with charm and one of the smallest autonomous territories in the world. With no cars, paved roads or street lights, you can drop down a gear and truly unwind. In place of traffic, you will see horse drawn carriages, bicycles and the odd tractor passing by. Needless to say, the pace of life is very relaxed and peaceful. Without the hustle and bustle of modern day life comes a wonderful sense of freedom. Sark is nothing short of a magical island straight out of a fairytale, ready to explore! On arrival, we will be transferred by ‘tractor-train’ to Sark’s commercial centre, followed by a relaxing two hour carriage ride around the island. We will then have time at leisure to explore this unique island before the return boat back to St Peter Port.
DAY 4 Enjoy a day at leisure today. Maybe relax on a sun lounger by the outdoor heated pool, or spend some time on the beach which is easily accessed directly from the hotel. Alternatively, you could take one of the local buses which stop near the hotel into the island capital of St. Peter Port and explore this charming town with its cobbled streets, blending history with excellent restaurants and local shops. Maybe visit Castle Cornet, the remarkable 800-year-old castle which sits proudly at the southern point of St Peter Port harbour, or perhaps stroll around the Victorian Candie Gardens, offering gorgeous views of St Peter Port harbour as well as the nearby sister islands.
DAY 5 Today it’s time for the ferry crossing back to Poole and homeward journey by coach.
