DAY 2 We step back in time today as we visit the Scarborough Fair Collection which hosts a magnificent working collection of vintage cars, steam engines, vintage fairground rides and mechanical organs, topped off with a ‘mighty’ Wurlitzer Organ in the spacious ballroom. One of the largest collections of its type in Europe, there is plenty to discover, and for those who like vintage fairground rides, you can ride on these for a small extra fee – scream if you want to go faster! Set in scenic grounds, this really is a hidden gem with so much to discover, from vintage toys and motorbikes to nostalgic galloping horses and a penny arcade. We then head to Scarborough itself, on the stunning Yorkshire coast. We begin our visit with a trip on the Central Tramway, one of the oldest Victorian cliff railways still running in the UK.You then have time to explore at your leisure – award-winning sandy beaches and breath-taking coastline await you, or you may prefer to investigate the local museums or town centre.
DAY 3 Today we explore the port city of Kingston upon Hull.We start the day with a guided tour from a local guide who will take you on a journey through some of the city’s hidden secrets and tell you exciting tales of days gone by.With over 700 years of history to discover and cobbled streets and ancient alleyways to explore, Hull’s Old Town is also home to the majestic Minster and many of the city’s free museums and galleries.Take a wander along the marina of Yorkshire’s only waterfront city, enjoying the peaceful sound of the boat masts swaying in the wind and make time to visit one of the many historic pubs, bars and restaurants with something to suit all tastes.
DAY 4 This morning we head to Burton Constable Hall, a fascinating country house set in 330 acres of parkland designed by ‘Capability’ Brown. We begin our visit with a whistle-stop guided tour of some of the ground floor rooms to give you an insight into the history and development of the Hall and its residents, and then you are free to explore the rest of the house and gardens at your own pace.We head back to the hotel via Beverley, a gem of a market town with an impressive Minster and pretty market square.
