WED After an early start, we take the ferry from Dover to Calais and then make our way to Amsterdam where we board the ship. After settling in to your cabin, the ship’s crew will be introduced to you at a welcome cocktail reception before this evening’s dinner.
THU Today, enjoy a tour of Amsterdam by canal in the historic heart of this beautiful city. We then enjoy lunch on board the ship before heading off to the stunning Keukenhof Gardens. Covering an area of 32 hectares, with over seven million bulbs, it is one of the world’s largest flower gardens. The ship then departs for Nijmegen this evening.
FRI We leave our ship by coach with a host for the Dutch Open Air Museum in Arnhem, where authentic farms, windmills, workshops, houses, a church and a school provide an insight on the everyday life and architecture of yesteryear. We then return to the ship which will be docked in Krefeld overnight.
SAT This morning will be spent cruising to Cologne on the dazzling section of river known as the ‘Romantic Rhine’. This afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city of Cologne. Admire the exterior facades of the huge Gothic cathedral and then move on to the Old Town to see the Farina Fragrance Museum, home to the famous ‘Eau de Cologne’.
SUN We cruise from Cologne to Rüdesheim this morning where we enjoy a tour and commentary by tourist train, learning about winemaking in the region and stopping at a wine tasting cellar before visiting the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments with free time afterwards to stroll through Rüdesheim before returning to the ship.
MON We cruise to Heidelberg this morning, where we visit the outside of the castle and stroll through the gardens, heading to the Neckarmünzplatz to continue with a guided tour of the old city. We then cruise to Mannheim before our Gala Evening on board, with a four course dinner. We continue on to Strasbourg overnight.
TUE After disembarking this morning, we head to our overnight hotel in Reims.
WED We head back to Dover via the ferry today, arriving home in the early evening.
