SAT  We travel north this morning to our overnight hotel in the Dumfries area.

SUN  We depart after breakfast this morning to join the ferry from Cairnryan to Belfast. We then head through the scenic countryside en route to Buncrana and our mainstay hotel.

MON  Spend a relaxing morning in Buncrana where you can enjoy the hotel’s facilities, including the indoor swimming pool, before continuing in the afternoon to the village of Muff for a guided tour and tasting at The Muff Liquor Company. This award-winning distillery combines traditional craft with a healthy sense of humour. Learn about the art of gin and whiskey production before enjoying a tasting of their signature spirits. 

TUE  Today there’s a guided tour of the Inishowen Peninsula and the chance to drive up to Ireland’s northernmost point, Malin Head. This region is a protected national park, with wonderful ocean views and rare species of flora and fauna. The tour continues to Derry/Londonderry on the banks of the River Foyle, the only completely walled city in Ireland, where you can see the Tower Museum, Guildhall, Bogside Murals and new Peace Bridge. 

WED  Michael Palin described the train trip from Londonderry to Coleraine as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world”. We start the day on this delightful route that winds its way past beautiful beaches and through Ireland’s longest railway tunnels, taking in historic landmarks along the way. We then continue to the UNESCO World-Heritage listed Giant’s Causeway with its stunning coastal scenery. Discover all about this astounding attraction at the impressive visitor centre including the romantic legend of giant Finn MacCool who laid down the causeway as a path across the sea to his lady-love in Scotland.

THU  We depart the hotel after breakfast and make our way to Ulster American Folk Park to visit one of the country’s major museums. Here you’ll experience the epic story of Ireland’s emigration from Ulster to the American Frontier, brought to life through costumed re-enactments. This afternoon we continue south to Wexford for our last overnight hotel. 

FRI  We catch the ferry from Rosslare to Pembroke and complete our journey home today.
