DAY I We make our way north, stopping for coffee and lunch en route, arriving at our hotel in the quiet seaside town of Grange-over-Sands with time to settle in before dinner.

DAY 2 This morning we make our way to Haverthwaite to board a steam train for our scenic journey through the Leven Valley to Lakeside Pier at the most southerly tip of Lake Windermere.We then make our way to the Lakes Aquarium, situated in the picturesque Lakeside area and home to a wide array of creatures, from local freshwater and marine fish to reptiles and amphibians. Pass through the underwater tunnel where sturgeon, carp and diving ducks swim by.Take time to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Lake Windermere from the lovely cafe, visit the gift shop or enjoy a walk beside the beautiful lake. We then board our boat for a gentle 40 minute cruise across England’s largest lake to the delightful town of Bowness. Here you will have time to explore this bustling town before heading back to our hotel.

DAY 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we set off on a journey through some of England’s most spectacular scenery.We travel north following part of Coniston Water to the picturesque village of Ambleside. Enjoy time for coffee and a look around this charming area, before we head to the pretty village of Grasmere in time for lunch. Here you have time to visit Wordsworth’s museum and Dove Cottage (Wordsworth’s home from 1799 – 1808) if you wish before we head back to Grange-over-Sands.

DAY 4 This morning, we head to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway for a return train journey on this narrow gauge railway from the coastal village of Ravenglass to Dalegarth in the heart of the Lake District. Once back at Ravenglass, we rejoin the coach and head to Muncaster Castle which is only a ten minute drive away.This is a privately owned historic castle, set in over 70 acres of wild woodland gardens overlooking the River Esk. Enjoy exploring this reputedly haunted castle and its grounds – and don’t forget to visit the birds of prey in the Hawk & Owl Centre!

DAY 5 After breakfast, it is time to head home with stops for coffee and lunch en route
