FRI Today head off for the seaside resort of Blackpool, with stops en route for coffee and lunch. We arrive in time for you to settle in to the recently refurbished Doric Hotel, situated on the prestigious Queen’s Promenade with stunning views over the Irish Sea. There is a free bar on selected drinks until 22:00, and dinner is served at leisure.
SAT & SUN You are free to explore at your leisure over the next couple of days. A full cooked breakfast is served in the morning, a light lunch in the middle of the day, and a three course dinner each evening, as well as the free bar on selected drinks each day between 12:00 – 22:00 and unlimited tea and coffee all day. You have full use of the leisure facilities in the hotel, as well as a free game of bingo during your stay plus nightly entertainment. A tram stop is conveniently situated right outside the hotel, and a bus and tram pass is included for you to use over the weekend. Maybe head down to the iconic Blackpool Tower, which contains many attractions including the world-famous ballroom – perhaps enjoy a dance while the organists entertain you. Other options include the Tower Dungeons, the Sea Life Centre with its giant turtles and sharks, or take a trip to the top of the Tower. If you’re feeling adventurous, head to the Pleasure Beach with its rides and shows, visit the zoo, or maybe encounter some famous faces at Madame Tussauds. There are also opportunities for shopping in the main streets, or take advantage of your bus and tram pass to head to the dual seaside towns of Lytham and St Annes. Although just two miles from Blackpool, they are worlds apart in character and atmosphere, situated along a picturesque stretch of coastline lined with well tended lawns, a boating lake and pretty parks.
This weekend, the 2026 UK Coach Rally is also taking place, where the best of the UK’s coach industry gather to undertake driving challenges and showcase their vehicles. Why not pop down to the Comedy Carpet in front of the Tower to see the vehicles on display, and watch as the best drivers in the industry take part in driving competitions, demonstrating the skills involved in manoeuvring today’s huge vehicles in tight spaces.
MON We head for home today with stops en route, arriving back in the early evening.
