DAY I We head north this morning to our overnight hotel in Preston, with comfort stops and lunch en route, arriving in time for dinner.
DAY 2 After breakfast, we continue our journey north over the border into Scotland, stopping for coffee and lunch on the way. We complete our journey through the lovely scenery of the Cairngorms National Park to Beauly and our hotel for the next four nights.
DAY 3 Enjoy a memorable trip today on one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys on the Kyle Line, the ‘Great Highland Railway Journey’. The train weaves its way through the Highlands and down to the Kyle of Lochalsh, close to the Isle of Skye. Crystal clear lochs mirror the forests and mountains on this wonderful journey. The views from the carriage windows are worth the fare alone, but the experience is thankfully repeated on the return to Beauly by coach.
DAY 4 Head over the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths to Dornoch, with its 13th century cathedral, and on to the spectacular Dunrobin Castle which resembles a French chateau with its fairytale spires and turrets, and is one of Britain’s oldest continuously inhabited houses. We then return to our hotel, with time to explore Beauly at your leisure.
DAY 5 Experience an unforgettable boat cruise on the Moray Firth for a chance to see the world’s most northerly population of Bottlenose Dolphins, along with other marine wildlife including seals and otters. We then visit Inverness, the ‘Capital of the Highlands’, a thriving city with its historic Old Town, bustling centre and riverside setting.
DAY 6 This morning we leave Beauly and begin our homeward journey, stopping for coffee en route to Moffat and the Woollen Mill for lunch, before completing our journey to our overnight accommodation in Preston, arriving with time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 7 After breakfast, we continue our return journey, stopping for coffee and lunch en route and reaching home in the early evening.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Durham – thank you for a good few days. The hotel was ideally placed and comfortable, and we enjoyed the food. Lastly we cannot fault David and Caroline. They both worked hard to make our trip such a pleasure.
Terry & Marilyn – West Moors
We have had another lovely holiday with Heathside Travel. Dave and Terry have worked very hard to make sure everything has run to plan and they have succeeded, nothing has been too much trouble for them. Thanks it was amazing.
